Frequently Asked Questions

Trying to navigate the world of accounting, finance, and tax can be overwhelming. Let me help you alleviate the stress and get you back to what you do best, running your business.

Are you accepting new clients?

No, I am not taking on new clients at this time.

How much do you charge for your services?

The initial meeting is free and the subsequent cost is based on the work required and the amount of time required to complete the work. The more complex your situation is, the more time is required.

How do I get started?

I will start with a complimentary meeting to determine your needs. Please bring the previous year’s filed tax return and any notice of assessments to this meeting. I will then let you know of any particular documents needed from you, as the requirements vary based on the services that you require.

How long will it take to complete my return?

Personal tax returns are generally done within a two-week time frame depending on the complexity of the return. Corporate returns typically take four to six weeks.

Can I still use your services if I have an accountant already?

Yes, I can work as your bookkeeper and work hand in hand with your current accountant to best serve your needs.

Will you help if I am audited by the government?

Yes, I will help you with your tax audits. A Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) audit can be a very frightening and stressful situation. Knowing the CRA wants to take a second, closer look at your tax return, whether it is the entire return or just a portion of it, such as expenses claimed for meals, entertainment or travel, can be a very nerve-racking experience.

What if I have questions throughout the year?

Ongoing tax advice is provided free of charge. Please call or email me with any questions or queries that you may have.

How long should I keep my records?

As a general rule, you must keep all of your records and supporting documentation for a period of seven years. For the purchase of assets or investments, information relating to the purchase price must be retained for seven years after the date of disposition.
